Before launching Scale-Out Computing on AWS, set up an Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC), with private subnets and access from onpremises via AWS Direct Connect or AWS Site-to-Site VPN. Using AWS CloudFormation, deploy Scale-Out Computing on AWS as a baseline. Enable license server access with one of two methods: 1) use the VM UUID which is the AWS instance ID, or 2) use an Elastic IP address attached to the instance (even if it is running in a private subnet). Use AWS Auto Scaling groups for coordinator instances. Use Amazon EC2 Spot Fleet to launch a compute fleet for running jobs. Scale-Out Computing on AWS environment uses POSIX compliant file systems: Amazon Elastic File System (Amazon EFS) for cluster automation, Amazon FSx for Lustre for SiliconSmart binaries and job data. Amazon S3 Endpoint moves data to and from Amazon S3. Encryption is enabled for IP data and multiple AWS services using AWS Key Management Service
