Creativity has always been seen as a trait endemic to the human species. However, with the rapid progression of artificial intelligence, it is becoming more and more human-like. It can learn through experience and examples, much like how a human would. Future generations will perceive and experience the world differently because of AI's growing traits.
DALL-E 2 is a next-generation artificial image generator by OpenAI, named after artist Salvador Dalí and the robot WALL-E. Unveiled in 2021, it can generate images from random keywords to detailed descriptions to provide high-quality images. Currently unavailable to the public, it can be accessed by researchers with future releases through third-party apps. Open AI, is working on the model to fix issues such as biases in image generation, misinformation and implement technical safeguards and new content policies.
A couple of features it provides :
1. Image from text: A simple description like "giraffe walking a dog" can be translated into an image using CLIP computer vision. Users can feed in endless combinations of words to constantly produce intricate compositions.
2. Image Editing: With its advanced editing and visualizing capabilities it can even edit existing images while considering the colors, textures, shadows, and other elements for a seamless blend. For example, an image can be uploaded and the user can choose to remove a chair from the scene or add a dog to the painting on the wall. The result is a realistic chair in the room and a painted dog inside the chosen painting.
3. Variations of Image: DALL-E 2 can take an image and map its structure to produce a variation of the image while keeping the concept of the original. Several similar portraits of two birds on a tree can be produced by analyzing a portrait of two birds on a tree.
DALL-E 2 works on a process called "diffusion" which uses a pattern of dots that alter themselves based on specific visual characteristics of the image. With its constant learning of relationships between text and images, it can produce four times the image quality of its predecessor DALL-E 1. Technology like this is on track to revolutionize the world of design and open up new avenues for digital artists.
Forecasting weather is another potential application that could save lives. Using existing data we can simulate possible autcomes based on different variables like as temperature, humidity and location. These factors are assigned to quibits to produce endless combinations from which plausible outcomes can be observed.
Quantum computing is poised to change every aspect of our lives. We can expect more accurate weather predictions, secure banks as well as safer investments through this remarkable technology.
